There is one currently listed there for $2,000,000 (with an additional $4 for shipping). Beware, there are suckers born every minute like those who blew $3,000 on a copy of "Thriller" on Ebay after Michael Jackson died. How could buyers think, or better yet, how could sellers say something that has close to 50 million copies worldwide is "RARE".
PERFERT. I love this LP because it had Michael on one side and Michael and the zombies on the other. If you a Michael Jackson collecter this is perfect.
I bet they would sell a ton of these if they would package it the right way instead of just making a really great looking vinyl record with no support for it. When Michael Jackson died tragically on June 25, 2009 I bought the 25th Anniversary cd of "Thriller" along with most of his other cds. I want to order this item but there is no cardboard sleeve like the original album had. I had the original album "Thriller" from 1983 but unfortunately someone stole a lot of my original vinyl records 15 years ago and I never replaced it. I would love to buy this vinyl LP but I wish that Sony would have packaged it in a cardboard sleeve with the original artwork, lyrics, liner notes, etc.
First two things that popped in my head, were Purple Rain by Prince and Thriller by Michael Jackson. It is literally art. Thanks After a music marathon (and operation credit card reduction) month, it was time to select various classics that basically every music owner should own (and especially own on vinyl for any DJ work). This album has everything, Billy Jean, PYT, I could literally name every track and likely you know many of the words to most of these songs.
Both albums influenced me earlier in life, were pivotal in my musical (and therefore perhaps life) decisions and have influenced even who I am today. This is truly the epitomy of what music can be, and should aspire to be. Michael's passing, may he R.I.P., (& quick side bar, whatever you think of the man, the music is some of the best of its kinds ever, not negotiable) brought this imagery and passion within this particular album and video right back into the forefront of American musical culture.Another quick sidebar, recently along comes a friend of mine, into DJing who excites me into joining him in the world of spinning, of vinyl. A great album, not a patchwork of songs, but a story, something that will draw any listener to the same place.Be thrilled/awed/inspired/frightened again and get this album. I tracked down every CD, every MP3 I could find and combined this with vinyl. It still might be.
So now that I have plunked down a few hundred on equipment and a few hundred on vinyl from local record stores (please continue to support local vinyl as well as Amazon "big box" efforts), what is an aspiring DJ to do. Listening to music was literally like homework and I would race home after work and listen to at least a few hours of music a day. Thriller is literally an opus, a magnum, an epic, the Iliad and the Odysey of musical craftsmanship. Last note on this, I own this on mp3 (to listen to), on vinyl (I have a copy to spin/play) and I bought this picture disc to display on my wall. I remember this was the greatest thing ever when it came out. Listen to music.
The usage of Vincent Price, equal parts genius and creepy, the costuming, makeup, the entire production show on this was top of the line, completely began a new field (music videos) and set the bar so high, that few have even come close sense.
If you don't believe me, dig out your old turntable if you still have it, buy a new cartridge, belt (if necessary) and plug it in to a GOOD amplifier and speakers, or headphones. They have been raised on CD's and MP3's and IPODS only. plus they can now buy NEW releases on a increasing vinyl offering in retail stores. A few weeks ago I talked to 3 guys all in their early 20's.
Many other sellers are selling it for much more. This particular album makes a great 25th Anniversary tribute especially since Michael died. I did the same and found that they are right. I have only recently gotten back into vinyl now seeig that it is making a comeback. I must say, that after 20 plus years of listening to CD's and MP3's, those 20 something year olds DO have a very VALID point, vinyl records sound much better. Not to mention the new purchases. They each said they recenlty dug out their parents turntables this past summer along with some of their parents music that THEY listen to (go figure).
I urge you to buy it from this seller as it is very reasonably priced. This seller shipped the item very promptly and very well packaged. I found myself saying "what the hell was I and so many others thinking over 20 years ago" when thinking about how I and so many others went out and bought CD's of albums that we already had on vinyl. They are the people driving the resurgence in vinyl.
